Chinese Tourism Resources and Products Marketed in Madagascar

On the evening of June 8, local time, the Hotel Carlton in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, staged the “China: Beyond Your Imagination” tourism marketing event, attracting a 200-plus audience from the local tourism industry, airline companies and media and showing them tourism achievements, abundant tourism resources and diverse tourism products in China. CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang who was also the head of the Chinese tourism delegation, Chinese ambassador to Madagascar Yang Xiaorong and tourism minister of Madagascar Rolland Ratsiraka attended and addressed the event.

“China and Africa have enjoyed long-lasting friendship and now face more development opportunities created by the Belt and Road Initiative. Madagascar strongly appeals to Chinese tourists as a destination thanks to its rich resources, hospitality and bio-individuality. Likewise, China is also a popular destination for tourists from Madagascar for its long history, profound culture and diverse tourism products. Our tourism resources vary greatly from and are highly complementary to each other, indicating huge cooperation potentials. We would like to share tourism development opportunities with Madagascar, jointly deepen bilateral tourism exchange and promote our healthy, sustainable tourism development,” said Du.

Ambassador Yang acknowledged the huge progress of bilateral cooperation in economic, social development and people-to-people exchange in the past 45 years since China and Madagascar established diplomatic relations. “By inviting China as the first Guest of Honor for its international tourism fair, Madagascar shows how much it values the Chinese market and its strong desire to tighten tourism cooperation with China. This event is one of the highlight activities celebrating the 45th anniversary of our bilateral diplomatic relations and will surely become a new starting point for our tourism cooperation.”

“Tourism can help enhance our mutual understanding and deepen our friendship. The tourism industry is growing into an economic pillar across the globe and playing an increasing role in economic development and the improvement of people’s livelihood,” said Minister Ratsiraka, “We highly appreciate the down-to-earth attitude and efficiency of the Chinese government and are looking forward to more exchange and cooperation programs with it. ”

Following the addresses, a video was screened to market the Silk Road tourism resources and products in China, and students from local Confucius Institute put on an amazing show of a distinct Chinese style. The climax arrived with the lucky draw.

Before the event, the Chinese delegation held business talks with local tourism professionals, paving the way for future business cooperation.
